Once again, he illustrates the importance of knowing a system completely. I also recalled how many times he has said that it's much easier to diagnose a car when you need to diagnose one thing, instead of having the owner compound the situation by allowing multiple things to go wrong (and multiple codes to be set) before having a vehicle looked at.
After working in the aerospace industry for almost 50 years (now retired), I have found that intermittent electrical issues are on the hardest items to diagnose.
Got to be difficult on an aeroplane, especially
Customer complaint “every other Tuesday going up a hill while it’s raining my car has a misfire”. Welp it’s gonna be a loooong day lol
Yeppers, I learned that in the Navy
They are indeed the Devil's Spawn.
That packet of M & Ms was a nice touch. All I ever get is that desiccant brand candy and it tastes like crap.
You guys are great and true technicians! Doing diagnostics, not just swapping out parts! ❤
Sounds like my fathers friend. He had one of those Chrysler models that had the Battery underneath the airbox. He had it replaced. Kept running dead. When I changed the battery I noticed the Clamp couldn't be tightened. Took the bolt out. Used my 3" Body saw. Shaved inside where the bolt went through. Replaced the nut and bolt. No more problem.
Please make videos on the business side of things. Labor rates, how to find labor rates. Marking up parts. How to sell warranty on labor and parts? Thank you.
A zero point calibration on the VSC syatem should also be done on these when messing with ride height, steering angle, etc...especially since the factory suspension was likely sagging.
Probably broke the cable to the wheel speed sensor by not rerouting it when the vehicle was lifted
Detailed analysis and having the right equipment helps. Curious, where did you pick up your flashlight?
I hope someone answers your question. He showed off that Flashlight quite a while back; I have no idea how many dozens of videos back it is where that could be found. :)
Nobody knows and he's not telling....I want to know.
That flashlight ain't cheap. It could be this or one of the cheaper or more expensive ones in the series:
OLIGHT Arkfeld Pro Rechargeable EDC Flat Flashlight with Green Beam, UV and White LED Combo, 1300 Lumens Portable Pocket Lights, Triple Sources for Outdoors Emergency Working (Orange CW)
I think it’s an Olight.
@@dB_944it is.
Id recommend using your Zeus on these older pre CAN vehicles. I don’t like snap on scanners but I will give them credit that on these older vehicles the snap on is worlds faster and more accurate than any launch or Autel product
sometimes take a drive like this and show the difference in pico and scanner on wheel speed sensor where we can see difference in processed and actual
I would really like to know what kind of fender covers you guys use?
Unrelated to the actual content mr. Sherwood mentioned large amount of apartments being built it’s the same way I’m my neck of the woods wtf is going on with them and they are ridiculous in price. Like house payment price. Anyway rant over.

What would you bill on this repair?
"I want to completely unconfuse myself on this one" 👍
I was looking to see if you was going to look into that oil look cause...dang! Probably rear main seal!
Perfect reason to buy, or have a Ase wave u-scope. Fast simple easy to use only like 100 dollars for the basic kit
When you mess with factory suspension you sometimes create a mess .
2002 toyota camry. used after market parts. now rides like a dump truck.
Sometimes you don't though.
@@bobby9823she sounds like a keeper
@@Bryanbobber I’ll stick 100% OEM Toyota
Especially on foreign junk
Had the same issue when I lifted my xterra. Had to reroute sensor wiring because it would pull when suspension was fully extended.
I had a roommate at Bravo 1/8 with an Xterra....he called it the sexterra. The license plate said it. Really weird dude, but he was pretty cool. He listened to really alarming music.
@@deplorablelibertarian Like, "Death Car on the Freeway" type music?
Why not just bypass the connector and solder the wires?
I looked up prices on that website and they were astronomical for connectors.
Looks like a great resource but prices on basic connectors looked 5-10x more expensive than most other sites.
Thanks...
Hahaha we buy lift kit but not hood struts! Priorities 😂😂😂
Awesome!
Cool!
Don’t think the lift kit had much to do with that😉.
They do leak don’t they!
With 380,000 miles and you did what. Are you stupid. I get it you are one of those people. Scrap yard vehicle. Love your channel 👍
That's rather ignorant. You must know nothing about the GX470 or the 2UZ-FE.
380,000 MILES??
I saw that too and I was like, is that KM 👀👀
You don't get that out of your cars?
Toyota seen plenty of 500k mile vehicles in the dealership
@@CalvinAytch In the US that will be miles.
This is how long Toyotas can last. I have a 2003 Camry running great at 303,000 miles.
why would anyone do this to such car...
That was stupid not on a lexus 😮😢😮😅😂😅
WHO in the WORLD puts a lift kit on a Lexus?!?!?!?!
A GX470 is just a slightly elevated Land Cruiser Prado; IOW the difference between a Tacoma (Standard LC or LX470) and Tundra (Prado LC or GX470).
You don’t know the capabilities of GX 470. I wish I had never sold mine!
I do
It has 380k on it. I mean wouldn't you find a lower mile one to lift. Considering the extra stress on the drivetrain
People
Why would someone put a lift kit on a Lexus?
Silly kid. Learn about capable 4x4 vehicles. Same as the 4RNR, FJ, Prado.
I never understand why people modify there car just leave everything factory and you will have less problems. Oem is the way to go plain and simple
Once the factory warranty expires, you are free to do whatever you want with your vehicle (without voiding said warranty). These are very popular with overlanding community so lift kit and wheels/tires are as basic of an upgrade as you can do.
I bet you're fun at parties.
@@kojot0976As off road worthy as a GX470 is, I don't know if I would trust a even a Lexus with 380,000 miles on an off-road excursion, but kudos for trying 😅.. Hopefully they got Matt's Off-road Recovery on speed dial.
lift kit on a Lexus SUV? Some people really got money to burn. Option 1: upgrade suspension for better ride. Since original suspension is for sure worn out after 380+K miles Option 2: ruin your ride. owner chooses option 2 🤣 I am rather sure that stability control system will be a total mess after the lift kit. Serious downgrade in safety.
BUT, I wish all new cars would do 380K miles, the reports of trucks/cars falling apart, blowing up below 60K are getting all way to common nowadays.
Only thing stopping you from getting 380k is not taking care of yours
It's literally a Landcruiser Prado, very similar to the 4Runner. It likely had blown out air shocks in the rear and trashed front suspension with that kind of mileage. There's nothing wrong with lifting these properly. A simple zero point calibration will make the VSC system happy.
A lift kit in a Lexus?????
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
I am betting he used an aftermarket sensor and wire… for Toyota and Lexus…I would have only used OEM. IF available… that is….
The problem was on the factory harness coming from the module under the dash and not on the new sensor and wire.
