Zuora is a subscription billing, commerce, and finance platform that manages the subscription business model. Headquartered at 3400 Bridge Parkway, in Redwood City, California, Zuora has approximately 200 employees in 4 countries. Clients include AAA, Dell, Yammer, TopCon, Qualcom, Hewlett-Packard, and BranchOut.

Tien Tzou, a co-founder of the company, has served as its CEO since 2007.


History

In 2007, after several years at WebEx & salesforce.com, K.V. Rao, Cheng Zou and Tien Tzuo founded Zuora. The name of the company derives from a combination of their three surnames.

On December 17, 2007, Zuora announced it had raised $6 million in Series A funding with Benchmark serving as a major investor.

On September 15, 2008 Zuora announced it had raised $15 million in Series B funding, led by Shasta and Lehman Brothers (now Tenaya).

In October 2010, Zuora raised an additional $25 million in Series C funding, with Redpoint Ventures coming on board as an investor.

On November 4, 2011, Zuora announced it had raised $36 million in Series D funding, led by Index Ventures.

Zuora sells a billing, commerce, and finance platform with multiple modules available for businesses of all sizes.

Zuora’s Billing Line is designed for subscription businesses. Zuora’s platform keeps track of subscription payments, invoices, pricing, product catalogs, and taxation. It also uses Zuora’s “rating” engine.

Zuora’s Commerce Line is designed for businesses seeking to create a subscription service or switch to subscription service entirely. Zuora’s commerce products let you take subscription orders on a company’s website in a PCI compliant manner. Specifically, Zuora offers a “B-to-B” native Force.com application called Z-Force.

Zuora Finance Line is designed for integration into General Ledgers (GLs). The line is designed for businesses that want to hook into Netsuite, Quickbooks, and _____.
